Souhail Zaatari (b.1983) is a Palestinian / Iranian artist based in London since 2003. Gaining his BA in photography from the London College of Communication in 2008, and recently completing a master’s degree in sociology and photography from Goldsmiths University of London in 2025.

His visual practice often reflects on spatial observations with a personal relationship to place. Elements of fine art, street, landscape, and portraiture photography can be found throughout his work.

Inspired by the New Topographic movement and drawing on the work of theorists such as Doreen Massey, Marc Augé and Stuart Hall, Zaatari visually explores notions of place, between personal identity and the spaces he encounters, using photography to respond to social and cultural questions.
His works examine the ways societal and structural environments shape personal and collective experiences, commenting on themes of placelessness, cultural memory, belonging and urban transformation, highlighting the complexities between place and identity in a rapidly changing world.
